Configure a dynamic entity schema
Add the fields your organisation tracks to work items and other entities, without a release or a developer.
No two contractors track the same things. Dynamic entity definitions let a project add its own fields to the entities it manages, with types and validation, and have them appear everywhere — forms, grids and the report designer.
Steps
- 1Open the entity definition you want to extend.
- 2Add fields with their data types, requiredness and option lists.
- 3Publish the definition. The schema is registered so that reporting knows the field exists.
- 4Open the report designer and confirm the new field is available as a column and as a filter.
Fields added this way are ordinary data. They are not a free-text notes box that nobody can report on later — which is the usual alternative and the usual regret.
