Give a project its catalogue
A new project works live from the catalogue the organisation maintains, and can be detached when it needs its own version.
A catalogue is the organisation’s agreed vocabulary: the tools crews may draw, the attributes each tool carries, which tools may connect, how the map renders them, and the quality rules that police all of it.
Linked by default
A new project uses its catalogue live. Rename a tool or add an attribute in Catalog Studio and every project linked to that catalogue sees the change straight away, with nothing to sync project by project.
Steps
- 1Create the project in client administration and choose its catalogue.
- 2Open the project map. The palette holds the catalogue’s tools, and each person can narrow it with a toolset.
- 3When the standard changes, change the catalogue in Catalog Studio. Linked projects follow.
When a project needs its own version
Detach gives the project its own copy of the catalogue. From then on, changes to the original reach it only through Sync to projects, one reviewed merge at a time. Detaching cannot be undone, and devices should finish syncing first: edits queued offline before a detach are rejected.
